Fakeation

I stumbled on this Articulate Challenge and couldn’t wait to give it a try. Here’s the photoshopped result:

The photo was taken years ago on the Alcatraz island in San Fransisco, but with a blue sky over the sea. I made a starry night sky on a new layer (learned from Scott Kelby), added a layer mask to the island image, then brushed on the layer to reveal the night sky. Finally I added a gradient circle for a moon, and borrowed a girl to put on the plants. Just some quick work, you can still see the blue sky in the trees, but I actually like it better than the original, which is more boring:
